A new study by the crypto gaming platform Gambulls analyzed major U.S. cities to identify the best places for nightlife and entertainment.
The research evaluated each city using factors such as bar density per 100,000 residents, closing times, average drink costs, entertainment options, appetizer prices, and safety.
Each city received a Total Fun Score ranging from 1 to 99, with a higher score indicating a better overall nightlife experience.

2. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Pittsburgh ranks second among the best U.S. cities for nightlife, with a score of 75.
The city offers the cheapest appetizers in the ranking, costing around $4.31 for half an appetizer. Pittsburgh also has approximately 29 bars per 100,000 residents, with average drinks costing around $10.
Its safety index of 62 makes it one of the more comfortable cities for enjoying a night out.
3. Las Vegas, Nevada
Las Vegas takes third place, with a Total Fun Score of 71.
The city combines 24-hour nightlife with a relatively high bar density of 35 bars per 100,000 residents.
Visitors can expect to spend around $12 per drink, the highest average drink cost among the ranked cities.
4. Columbus, Ohio
Columbus ranks fourth, with a score of 63.
The city has around 25 bars per 100,000 residents, with drinks costing approximately $10. Most bars stay open until 2:30 AM, giving visitors plenty of time to enjoy the nightlife.
Columbus also performs well for entertainment, receiving a music and entertainment score of 53.
5. Raleigh, North Carolina

Milwaukee comes in eighth, receiving a score of 58.

The tourism hub earned the second-highest entertainment score in the ranking, at 69, behind only Portland. Orlando hosts approximately 11 music festivals.
Drinks cost around $11, while the city maintains a relatively high safety index of 50.8.
A Gambulls spokesperson commented: “Nightlife remains essential to American social culture, regardless of economic conditions. College students typically spend 15–20% of their discretionary income on social outings, while working professionals continue to maintain an average monthly nightlife budget of around $250 despite rising drink prices.
There is also a psychological aspect, as people who maintain a dedicated fun budget often report higher job satisfaction and a better work-life balance. This helps explain why strong nightlife scenes are spread across diverse regions rather than being concentrated only in coastal metropolitan areas.”
