Betsoft once again released another online slot game based on a Chinese legend, this time of Sun Wukong, most commonly known as The Monkey King. True to their consistency of making uncomplicated slot games, 72 Fortunes only has 3 regular reels and 1 special reel. Unlike many other online slot games, there is only one possible winning payline on the 3 regular reels. 72 Fortunes is reminiscent of the classic Vegas slot machines that can be enjoyed by many.

Features of 72 Fortunes
Theme and Visuals
Betsoft games are known to be simple, yet it has eye-catching digital art designs that are both professional and aesthetically pleasing. The Monkey King, unlike the originally fun-loving character of the Chinese legend, looks fierce and endowed with power to potentially make you more prosperous than ever.
Whenever a bonus gets triggered, a powerful lightning strikes across the screen, and you can tell how much work was put into animating the individual components. Of course, when it comes to knowing how much fortune you can extract out of the actual game, we need to discuss the gameplay more deeply. The
Base Gameplay
The minimum bet is $0.03 and the maximum bet is $90. While the game appears to be slower than most other slot games (due to the fact it only has one winning payline), its RTP is surprisingly higher than average — at 96.41%.
In the demo, it took a long while to completely drain the balance, giving you longer gameplays with decent chances to win a jackpot. 72 Fortunes is also said to have a medium volatility, unless of course, you increase your bet amount.
The Paytable
Below is the pay table that corresponds to the bet amount. The default is 60 cents per spin, and this is the corresponding paytable. As you can see, the jackpot prizes belong to winning three masks in a row, with the Red Mask giving you $177.60 on the 60 cents, or 296 times the bet.
Of course, you’d still win something if you get at least 3 symbols over the payline. The challenge is that sometimes you don’t, and get up to 3 blanks over the payline. By getting any mask across the payline, you get paid 6 times your bet (e.g. Green, Green, Red and Blue, Red, Blue, both will give you the same amount).
Likewise, if your payline has only weapon symbols, you get two times your bet. For other cases (where it’s not empty) you’d get only 1x your bet.
Feature 1: Multipliers
It gets incredibly fun and the game picks up its pace when you get a bonus multiplier. The Green Vial on the fourth reel (bonus reel) has the potential to give you 2, 5, 8 times your total win amount.
Feature 2: Instant Win
Instant Win is applied when you have a winning payline on reels 1, 2, and 3. The bonus takes your total win, and applies a multiplier of either 8 times or 18 times to it. Then it adds to your existing win. If you happen to get the Instant Win and Red Mask Jackpot, for example, you’d win $3196.8 plus $177.60 of your original win.
Feature 3: Respin
Respin is perhaps the most elusive bonus of them all. A multiplier of either 1X, 2X, 3X, or 4X will be applied to the win each time the win respin when you trigger the Respin Bonus feature. The win on reels 1, 2, and 3 will be repeated up to five times by landing the respin symbol again.
This bonus was so rare that it was rather difficult to obtain one in the Demo, so no screenshot for this can be provided.
How to Play 72 Fortunes
Setting Bets
You can increase or decrease your bet per spin by operating the buttons at the footer of the game screen, right next to the Spin button.
The game offers a flexible betting range, catering to both casual players and high rollers. Furthermore, players can choose the number of paylines they wish to activate, allowing for a tailored gaming experience that suits their preferences and budget.
Spinning the Reels
Once your bets are set, it’s time to spin the reels! Click on the Spin symbol on the right hand side or press the Spacebar.
Using the Autoplay
For those who prefer a more hands-off approach, 72 Fortunes offers an autoplay feature that allows you to set a specific number of spins, sit back, and watch the action unfold.
In fact, using the Autoplay could help you manage your bankroll. The Autoplay will not allow you to place a higher number of spins that can completely exhaust your balance, assuming that you don’t win anything, consecutively for that number of spin. Now, logically, you’d win something at least, and that would extend your gameplay by a few more spins.
Tips for Playing 72 Fortunes
Effective bankroll management is key to a pleasurable gaming experience. There are players who go from 0.60 cents per bet, and go up to the maximum. They’d then get a few lucky wins, bringing their balance above their starting point.
Is this a good strategy? Not quite. Increasing the bet amount will increase the volatility. This means, if you only have $1000 of balance, for example, there is a greater chance that your balance could get wiped out in an unlucky series of losses, due to the high volatility.
Therefore, a good bankroll management system is to keep the bet amount suitable for the amount of balance you choose. Do you want to play 100 spins and try to get lucky at a jackpot, or only 10 spins with high bets and high volatility?
The answer, of course, depends on what type of player you are. You could be an aggressive player or someone who just wants to casually kill time with a fun slot game. Other advice you commonly hear about playing any type of slot games are:
- Determine a budget for your gameplay session and stick to it.
- Don’t chase losses, and know when to walk away if things aren’t going your way.
- Approach slot games with a mindset of enjoyment rather than solely chasing big wins.
